So, in change of what I have been in to, I tried some music in the lo-fi genre. One band caught my eye aside from some quite famous bands in the genre like Daughter and the legendary Velvet Underground by Lou Reed, is Best Coast .
Best Coast is also know as a surf-pop band and is based in Los Angeles, California. I love the lyrics of their songs since it’s catchy and easy is to be followed due to repetitive lyricism (if you could notice I am fond of repetitive melody and lyrics. haha. I also don’t know why)
I like that certain part of a song when it gets really catchy that you tend to repeat that certain part of a song where you got totally struck and MOST of the time it’s the ONLY part of the song that you can remember haha!
It seems that I couldn’t find any souncloud or bandcamp account of their band. So I got this soundcloud clip from a user named “musicmule”. This is the first track that I have ever heard from them. It’s a bonus track from their album, Crazy For You, released on 2010.
Check out the music video of this track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN1XzxOQWrA It’s cute, you’ll see :)
Here are the other tracks from the album. http://www.last.fm/music/Best+Coast/Crazy+For+You
Hope it all gets catchy on you too. Enjoy!

Last March 16, I had a chance to wander around at an event in Salcedo Village, Makati City. it was called “Art in the Park”. There were alot of great finds in there. It was just sad that I wasn’t able to bring a camera with me. While wandering at the park, me and my guy-friend noticed them playing some tracks so we stayed nearby. Their tunes were quite repetitive that’s why it was really catchy that I easily had an LSS syndrome. They define their music as a nature and children-inspired ambient sound. Their set was refreshing and their tunes tickled my ears. It was relaxing.
We even bought their EP for 100php only. Listen to some of their tracks on soundcloud and visit their blogspot at http://www.gentleuniverse.blogspot.com/

Eyedress is a local based artist and is fond of trippy mixes. Most of his works are pretty psychedelic. Though there are some of his tracks that I quite like, most of them are also in a steady kind of vibe. Idris is also a member of another local band, Bee eyes. This band is also a good one too. Doesn’t sound local at all.
Check out their soundcloud account: https://soundcloud.com/beeeyes
Most of Eyedress’ mixes are categorized as chillwave. Some tracks are really really in heavy synthesizers while others give you peace in mind and helps you contemplate things or can even give you a “lift” (depending on you).
There is this track that almost sounds like Blouse’s Ghost Dream (well just the intro).

He is just one of the many uprising electronic musicians in the country. Will be featuring more of “them” later on.

I have been addicted to this band in weeks. Especially with their first self-titled album. Some tracks totally got my attention like Time Travel and Firestarter. Eventhough I couldn’t understand some of the lyrics, the rhythm really got my attention. Being on it’s dreamy state of music, Blouse’s music relaxes me everytime I travel going to school and even going home. I sometimes blend with the music and get carried away feeling the steady vibe of these tracks. With the floating guitar streaks and dreamy vocals, who couldn’t get hooked to it? while listening to the whole album, you’ll just begin to realize that the music brings you to a different kind of vibe. Separating you to the noise and buzz of your surroundings (well it applies to me).
For more info of the band, click the link and listen to some of their tracks.
Enjoy!

I admit, she has a beautiful voice. It’s like she wasn’t born with a cleft palette.
Simply amazing.
